The Music

This concert will feature an evening of standard and original jazz music. Woodard's guitar style is a blend of Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell and George Benson. Woodard also takes sounds from styles other than jazz and adapts them to a jazz format.

Woodard has received positive reviews in publications such as Cadence Magazine (Frank Rubolino), "an innovative guitarist who executes in a clear lyrical way" and The Rochester City News (Ron Netsky), "Fred Woodard is a master at combining jazz and blues in an electric guitar style that never fails to engage."

Fred Woodard (guitarist, leader) has performed extensively with his trio in the northeastern and midwestern United States. He has made appearances at events such as the Providence Jazz and Blues Festival, The Discover Jazz Festival, The Kingfield Jazz and Blues Showcase and the Iowa City Jazz Festival. Woodard's group has released two CDs Arrival and 1715 on his label, Ujam Records. Both have received extensive airplay and have received positive reviews. He currently teaches at the Roland Hayes School of Music in Roxbury, MA

Lello Molinari (bass) has performed locally and toured internationally with several bands including, High Society, The International Quartet and The Either Orchestra. He has recorded two CDs as leader. He is also the principal bassist with the Melrose Symphony Orchestra. He is currently an associate professor at Berklee College of Music.

Yoron Israel (drums) has toured and recorded with musicians such as Abbey Lincoln, Ahmad Jamal, Kenny Burrell, Art Farmer, James Williams and has recorded four CDs as leader. He is currently assistant chair of the percussion department at Berklee College of Music.
