Zeitgeist Gallery's 1st Annual Guitar Festival
17 Guitarists in 11 Hours! Sunday, October 16, 12:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Gallery fundraiser; no advance reservations.
In a city known for its guitar music, Boston/Cambridge has never before had a guitar festival showcasing some of the area's best players! This festival will feature a variety of styles: Jazz, Bluegrass, Classical, Avante Garde, and Singer-Songwriter. Each of the 17 players will perform a 30 minute set. The guitarists are: Charles Anastasiou, Matt Joy, John Damian, Will Dailey, Derek Trenholm, John Baboian, Joe Carson, Dave "Fuse" Fiuczynski, Yoni Gordon, Glen Jones, Chris McDermott, Raymond Gonzalez, Brandon Seabrook, Lou Arnold, Eric Hoffbauer, Justin Piper and Felliko Tshikala. • 1:00: raymond gonzalez: folk guitarist and composer from the boston area
• 1:35: chris mcdermott: jazz guitarist from the boston area
• 2:05: derek trenholm: a boston-based singer/songwriter who performs in the style of matt nathanson and howie day. his extensive use of loops and other effects have kept his performances exciting and pleasurable for audiences throughout the new england area. visit www.derektrenholm.com for more info!
• 2:40: jeremy lyons: a new orleans based guitarist/singer, lyons performs old country-blues the way it should be performed - heartfelt and truthful. drawing from the classic repertoire as well as his own compositions, lyons and his slide guitar work will make your jaw hit the floor. visit www.deltabilly.com for more info!
• 3:15: john baboian: one of the best jazz and session guitarists that the city of boston has to offer. as well as being an in-demand guitar instructor at berklee college of music, john is a master of all styles. it is this, combined with his formidable jazz chops and unique ear for arrangement that make john a new england treasure.
• 3:50: eric hoffbrauer: avant-garde jazz guitarist
• 4:25: joe carson: a singer/songwriter from the boston area whose talent is unparalleled. with a voice like jeff buckley, songwriting ability like ryan adams, and superb guitar work similiar to early dylan, joe carson is a performer not to be missed. visit www.myspace.com/thevelvetmorning for more info!

• 5:35: fellyko tshikala: a west african guitarist, who is sure to captivate all who hear this man's beautiful music.

• 6:45: will dailey: formerly of the boston-based band mappari, songwriter dailey seems to have a song for every possible human emotion. back from selling out the viper room in l.a., daily is excited to be back on the new england scene! his songs are filled with joy, sadness, longing, and love, and speak to the listener like an old friend. visit www.willdailey.com for more info!
• 7:20: justin piper: a staple on boston's jazz and funk scene. he has performed with area groups such as the freelance bishops, akashic record, and the justin piper trio. tonight, he will play a solo jazz set. visit www.justinpiper.com for more info!
• 7:55: brandon seabrook: avant-garde jazz guitarist
• 8:30: yoni gordon: an amazing singer/songwriter whose use of loops and other effects continues to blows audiences' minds all throughout the region.
• 9:05: glenn jones: whether with his group, cul-de-sac, or solo, jones’ music is unsurpassed. carrying on in the "american primitive" tradition of john fahey, his music will take you on journeys you've never thought of. jones is one of the best kept secrets of american music.
• 9:40: john damian: a true original. berklee professor damian has taught and performed with some of the worlds best musicians, including bill frisell, wayne krantz, john williams, and dave leibman. he is in a class of his own, performing avant pieces on his beloved "rubbertellie", an instrument of his own design. tonight he performs a theatre piece entitled "happy birthday rubbertellie.” do not miss this important musician!
• 10:15: dave "fuze": has performed nationally with his own group, "the screaming headless torsos," and many other top-notch musicians, including michelle ndegeocello. new to the area, and now a berklee professor, "fuze"'s playing will tear your head off. very high energy, and very deep. tons of chops combined with beautiful compositions. not to be missed!
