Maren Tober-extraordinary artist, asylee, formerly homeless, married to Afro-Cuban artist Nelson Da Costa, is displaying the fruits of one year creative activity in her new studio in South Boston. Her flat and vivid, carefully stroken cubist paintings are the main attraction in this showing. Beautifully composed, harmonical arranged shapes and hues are converting the once virgin canvas into a vibrant & positive energyloaden piece of art. A repetitive symbol is the sun, fountain of life, energy, joy, and happiness. Tober, an emerging self-taught artist grew up in East-Berlin, Germany and arrived in the US about 2 years ago in support of her husband. Since then she has been creating, promoting, exhibiting and selling in a pace unknown to others. The joy, need and obsession of art making are obvious as the artist's mind seems to overfloate with images and ideas in need of liberation.
