BENEFIT FOR ARTSPACE ~ GLOUCESTER

-CUL DE SAC
-TIM MUNGENAST
-PARAFFIN SECTION

For several years, the Gloucester artspace had been the destination for North Shore residents looking for their fill of giant nautical puppets, free art classes and a vast spectrum of affordable live music. A void was felt when fire code violations forced it to cease musical performances in Feb of 2002. Fortunately, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Shep Abbott, a new space has been found, the only catch being that it lacks a heating system and adequate bathroom facilities. In order to lighten the financial burden, the Zeitgeist Gallery had decided to host a benefit.

from Time Out NY and the Village Voice and heavy
airplay on WFMU.

Chirs Moore (www.mooresong.com)

3play+ with Greg Hopkins

7:30
suggested donation $8/6 for students

Boston’s legendary jazz great Greg Hopkins will join 3play+ with his beautiful horns (trumpet, flugelhorn) for an exciting improvisational collaboration!

“one of Boston’s jazz treasures” - The Boston Globe

Please join us for this very special evening of musical adventure.

3play continues its once-a-month pre-Fringe residency with it’s freeflowing mix of originals and free improvisation. Featuring Lello Molinari on acoustic bass, with his rocking groove, deeply melodic approach and innovative use of strangely beautiful textures. Ralph Rosen, on the drum kit, flows effortlessly through a wild mix of feels and quick rhythmic changes. Ralph also contributes unique “drummer/composer” charts, where harmony is interpreted from a whole other perspective and the tunes always swing. Josh Rosen¹s freewheeling piano improvisations range from densely textured explosions to burning melodic lines to quiet repose. He also contributes compositions, some long and involved, some short, sweet and to the point. 3play maintains the possibility of freedom at all times - the music changes on a dime, and with keen ears (and a little luck) magic happens…

IMAGES ON AND OFF STAGE
by Charles Daniels aka the Masterblaster
March 23 thru April 5, 2004
Reception Thursday March 25, 6-9 p.m.

As the host of Boston’s infamous Tea Party, Charlie Daniels met, befriended and photographed many of rock’s famous faces. The result of an archaeological dig through hundreds of negatives, this show highlights images — most of which have never been printed before, let alone exhibited - of early Rod Stewart, Ronnie Woods, Aerosmith, Peter Wolf, the Stones and others on stage, off stage, and on the road.

“Jazz is searching.”
I am a Peruvian born living in North America. Throughout this years, I have cultivated a deep love for Jazz, the musical celebration of life…jazz is people communicating their emotions through music…in real time! “We play what we are.” For this date, I have reunited with my favorite people and musicians to go on a wild musical journey that incorporates elements of my roots. From the coast of Peru to the streets of Beantown …Here south meets north and north meets south. Bebop, Festejos y Landos go hand to hand and Chabuca Granda, Monk and Benny Golson joyfully share a “ceviche.”
